Frequently asked questions
Are you a car dealer or broker?
No. We never sell cars and never accept commissions or referral fees from dealers, lenders, brokers, or insurance companies. Your fee is the only money we get paid.
I don’t have a Social Security Number. Can you still help?
Yes. If you have an ITIN we can introduce you to ITIN-friendly auto lenders and credit unions, walk you through what they will ask for, and time the purchase so your file is in the strongest possible shape. If you don’t have an ITIN yet, we’ll help you get one.
Will you help me get pre-approved for financing?
We coach you through getting pre-approved with a credit union or independent lender BEFORE you visit any dealer. We don’t arrange the loan ourselves — that keeps us neutral. You walk into the dealership with a real offer in hand, which is the single biggest predictor of getting a fair APR.
What about new vs. used?
For most first-time buyers a 2–4 year old used car is the better deal. New cars lose 20–30% of their value in the first two years, and the warranty premium rarely pays for itself. We will look at total cost of ownership, not sticker price.
How is this different from a service like CarMax or Carvana?
CarMax and Carvana are retailers — they make money selling you their inventory. We make money helping you buy from anyone, including dealers across the street, private sellers, or auctions. No inventory bias.
How long does the process take?
Starter is delivered as a written plan within 2 business days. Guided usually closes in 1–2 weeks. Concierge runs 2–4 weeks depending on inventory and your timeline.
Do you offer pre-purchase inspections?
For Concierge, yes — we coordinate a third-party mobile inspection for any used car you’re seriously considering, anywhere in the US. For Guided we walk you through the inspection ourselves on a video call.
What languages do you work in?
English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish — every plan, every deal review, every paperwork walk-through.
What states do you serve?
Our focus regions are the East Coast (Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas through Maine, including DC), Texas, and the Midwest (Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota, Iowa). We have the deepest experience with state-specific title, doc-fee, and registration rules in those areas. We can take buyers in other states case-by-case.
Do you actually inspect used cars in person?
On the Concierge tier our founder — an automotive engineer — personally inspects vehicles within driving distance of our service area. For vehicles outside that radius we coordinate a vetted mobile-mechanic partner (Lemon Squad, Alliance Inspection Management, or a regional independent) and review their report with you before you sign. No used car gets bought on a Concierge file without an independent inspection.
What if I’m not approved or change my mind?
We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on the Starter plan. Guided and Concierge are partially refundable depending on how far along your case is — see our refund policy for the breakdown.
Will you negotiate with the dealer for me?
On Concierge, yes — we run the dealer outreach end-to-end remotely. On Guided we provide you with a written negotiation strategy, target numbers, and exact scripts to use, and you call the dealer yourself with us on standby.
Do you handle DMV / title / registration?
On Concierge, yes — we coordinate title transfer, registration, and license-plate handoff with you and the dealer (or seller) in any US state.
